Alan is the President and Senior Portfolio Manager for Aerie Capital Management, a registered investment advisor he founded in June 2003. Prior to starting Aerie, Alan spent five years at T. Rowe Price as Senior Portfolio Analyst.  While at T. Rowe Price, he earned the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation. ​After leaving T. Rowe Price, he spent two years writing articles for investment newsletters.  Alan is a graduate of Guilford College (go Fighting Quakers!) and earned his MBA from Washington University, St. Louis.  Alan has taught college courses on finance, investment analysis, options, and financial planning at both on-line and on-ground universities.

In addition to sitting on the Board of Valley/Bridge House, Alan is a former trustee of The Gathering of Baltimore, a non-denominational congregation that he helped start in 2000.  He and his wife are also very active in animal rescue and adoption.
